New official communications regarding the extension of the suspension of terms and activities of authorities related to Intellectual Property matters

On April 13, 2020, the Mexican Court of Administrative Justice (“TFJA”) issued the official communication SS/11/2020 by means of which it extended the suspension of terms and jurisdictional activities from April 20 to May 05, 2020. On April 17, 2020, said official communication was published in the Official Federal Gazette.

The period for issuing legislation on Cannabis is extended

This past Friday, the Plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, in a private session, granted a second extension to the Congress of the Union to issue the new legislation in relation to cannabis, which expires on December 15, 2020, on which date the second ordinary period of sessions would conclude.

Extension of the suspension in the activities of the Mexican Antitrust Commission and its procedures

The Board of the Commission, in its session held today, decided that the initial suspension of terms period (March 23 until April 17) will be extended. In this regard, all terms will be suspended until April 30, 2020; furthermore, considering that May 1, 2 and 5 are holidays, the activities will restart on May 6, excepting those related to merger control procedures and the issuance of opinions or decisions in the granting of licenses, concessions, permits and similar procedures.
