After over 3 years working on the Latin American and Iberian team at the Secretariat of ICC International Court of Arbitration, Victor leaves Paris to join our Arbitration practice. While at the ICC, Victor handled over 250 arbitrations, including a number of high-profile cases involving large corporations and state entities from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. He also played an important role in the revision to the ICC Rules of Arbitration and was part of the team that implemented the rules within the Secretariat of the Court.
Victor has solid experience and background in complex cross border arbitrations including infrastructure, oil & gas and corporate disputes, including joint venture, shareholder, post M&A, distribution, sale of goods and franchise arbitrations. His arrival contributes to the growth of Von Wobeser & Sierra, a GAR 100 firm since the second edition of the survey and recently labeled as "Arbitration Elite with a Corporate Offer" by Latin Lawyer magazine. Victor currently acts as counsel and as arbitrator in international and domestic arbitration proceedings under the major arbitration rules. Recently he has also been acting an advisor to law firms that act as counsel in ICC arbitration proceedings.Prior to joining the ICC Court, Victor spent two years as a foreign attorney in the arbitration and litigation departments of Shearman & Sterling (Paris) and Bingham McCutchen (Los Angeles). Earlier, he was a research assistant to Professor Jack J. Coe, Jr. at Pepperdine University School of Law where he obtained his LL.M. in Dispute Resolution. He speaks Spanish, English and French and is a member of the exclusive ICC Latin American Arbitration Group, the Spanish Arbitration Club, the Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados, A.C. and the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa.
