January 20, 2014. On January 1, 2014, Von Wobeser y Sierra, S.C. ("VWyS") appointed Diego Sierra as the firm's new partner, thereby reaffirming its strategic, stable and organic growth. Diego will head VWyS's Anti-corruption and Compliance practice, advising domestic and international clients in their compliance efforts with respect to anti-corruption regulations in Mexico, as well as extraterritorial regulations such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Diego Sierra will continue the commercial litigation and international arbitration practice to which he has devoted himself throughout his career. He is a Mexican attorney (admitted to practice in New York), with international experience in New York (Skadden Arps (2011-2012)) who has actively participated in some of VWyS's most significant arbitrations and litigation over the past decade. Some of Diego Sierra's representative and recent work includes advising Anheuser-Busch InBev/Grupo Modelo (before and after the acquisition of Grupo Modelo by Anheuser-Busch InBev) on both compliance and international arbitration matters. In addition, he currently represents European financial institutions in complex commercial litigation in their collection efforts in Mexico. In international commercial arbitration, he represents a European consumer products company in a commercial arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Diego Sierra earned his Master of Laws, with honors, from Northwestern Law School and obtained a certificate in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management. Diego is an attorney from the Escuela Libre de Derecho; he graduated with honors.
