Dear clients and friends,On May 4, the Decree enacting the General Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information was published in the evening edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation, which, under the terms of its first transitory article, entered into force on the day following such publication. This Law implements Article 6 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States with respect to the matter of transparency and the human right of access to information, and shall be of general observance throughout the Republic. Its purpose is to establish the principles, general bases and procedures to guarantee the right of access to information held by any authority, entity, body and agency of the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches, autonomous bodies, political parties, trusts and public funds, as well as any individual, legal entity or union that receives and uses public resources or performs acts of authority of the Federation, the Federative Entities and the municipalities.
