Extension of the suspension of the activities and deadlines of the National Copyright Institute

Due to the COVID-19 contingency, on May 1, 2020, the agreement extending the suspension of deadlines and activities that ran from March 26 to April 30, 2020 was published on the official website of the National Copyright Institute (INDAutor). Therefore, under the terms of this new agreement, INDAutor will remain closed and the counting of deadlines will remain suspended until May 29, 2020.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, it was agreed that during this period the following procedures may be requested online: a) New applications for registration of works and contracts; b) Preliminary opinion on Reservations of the Exclusive-Use Right; c) Assignment of International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN); d) Assignment of numbers relating to Periodical Publications (ISSN). Likewise, said Institute clarified that the Reservations of Exclusive-Use Rights pending renewal as of March 26, 2020 and during the period that the aforementioned suspension lasts will remain in force and continue to produce their legal effects until activities are resumed. All filings and documents pending may be submitted to INDAutor as of June 1, 2020, including those whose terms have expired during the suspension period.
