The purpose of the amendments to the RMP is, among others, to prevent the advertising of foods and alcoholic beverages that, under the terms of NOM-051-SCFI-2010, must bear warning seals, from including children's characters, animations, cartoons, celebrities, athletes or mascots, interactive elements such as visual games or digital downloads, directed at children that incite, promote or encourage the consumption, purchase or choice of such products; and, on the other hand, it establishes that the advertising of this type of products must also include the corresponding warning seals. In other words, certain labeling restrictions on certain products under NOM-051-SCFI-2010 would be extended to the advertising of those products. For its part, the primary purpose of the amendments to the RCSPS is to incorporate into the latter body of law the various amendments to NOM-051-SCFI-2010 that will enter into force in a first stage on October 1, 2020. The Draft Decree will remain on the CONAMER portal for at least 20 business days for comments from all interested parties.
