The National Trade Facilitation Committee is created

The Agreement creating, on a permanent basis, the National Trade Facilitation Committee (the Committee) was published today in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). Its purpose is to coordinate the Federal Public Administration in the proper design, implementation and evaluation of strategies to facilitate the international trade of goods.

The Committee will be composed of one representative from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation and the Ministry of Health, all of whom will have voice and vote. It will be chaired by the head of the Ministry of Economy or, in his or her absence, by the head of the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, and it must be installed within the following 35 business days. It is noteworthy that the Committee may invite to its sessions members of the private sector, business chambers and confederations such as the Business Coordinating Council, the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism, the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology, A.C., the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States, the National Agricultural Council, A.C., the Confederation of Associations of Customs Brokers of the Mexican Republic, A.C., and the Latin American Confederation of Customs Brokers, among others, who will only have the right to voice but not vote. We applaud this initiative, which could become an excellent forum for dialogue to, among other things, prevent governmental measures and regulations that could hinder international trade, as well as to hear and address the valid and reasonable concerns of the private sector. New methodology for electricity transmission service charges applicable to self-supply and cogeneration

On October 19, 2026, the Resolution of the National Energy Commission issuing the methodology for determining the charge applicable to the electricity transmission service provided by the CFE to Permit Holders with electricity generation facilities that have entered into an interconnection agreement and an agreement for electricity transmission service pursuant to the Public Electricity Service Law (the “Resolution”) will enter into force.
