An agreement of the Ministry of Health was published today in the Official Gazette of the Federation, establishing certain extraordinary actions relating to the acquisition and importation by the public sector of all types of goods and services needed to combat COVID-19, such as medicines, medical equipment, diagnostic agents, and surgical and dressing materials.
This agreement provides, among other things, that the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Navy, the Institute of Health for Well-being, the Mexican Social Security Institute, and the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers shall be authorized to acquire and import the aforementioned goods and services. To this end, they may make the advances and payments necessary to secure the best conditions in terms of timeliness, and shall also be released from completing the import procedures handled by the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks.
