Third extension of the suspension of the activities of the Federal Economic Competition Commission and its proceedings

At its session held on April 27, the Commission’s Plenary agreed that the initial period (March 23 to April 17) and the second period (April 20 to April 30) of the suspension of terms would be extended. Accordingly, and as of May 6 of this year, all deadlines and terms will be suspended until May 29, 2020, except for those proceedings related to merger control and the proceedings for the issuance of opinions or resolutions on

In addition to the foregoing, the proceedings for which terms will continue to run normally are: (i) requests for formal opinions; (ii) general guidelines; (iii) the opinions provided for in Article 12 of the Federal Economic Competition Law, sections XII, XIII, XIV, XV and XVIII; (iv) public consultations; (v) the immunity program; (vi) the benefit of waiver or reduction of the amount of fines; (vii) the stage subsequent to the conclusion of investigations for monopolistic practices or unlawful concentrations; and (viii) the deadlines for the Plenary to issue a resolution in any proceeding, under certain conditions. All filings submitted to the Commission during the first, second and third suspension periods and that are not related to the proceedings indicated above will be deemed filed on June 1.
