Values of the Unit of Measure and Update in force as of February 1, 2021

Today, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published in the Official Gazette of the Federation the update to the values (daily, monthly and annual) of the Unit of Measure and Update (UMA), which will enter into force as of February 1, 2021. In light of the foregoing, the new values of the UMA will be as follows:

• Daily: $89.62 pesos. • Monthly: $2,724.45 pesos. • Annual: $32,693.40 pesos. It is important to recall that all references to the minimum wage as a unit of account, index, base, measure or reference to determine the amount of the obligations and cases provided for in federal or state laws or any legal provision derived therefrom, shall be understood as referring to the UMA; in other words, the minimum wage should not be used for the calculation of such obligations, and it shall be the value of the UMA that must be considered for such purposes.
