After more than 3 years working on the Latin American and Iberian team of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris, France, Víctor returns to Mexico to join our arbitration team. During his time within the Court, Víctor worked on more than 250 arbitrations, including a significant number of high-profile cases involving major companies and state entities from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Víctor also played an important role in the revision of the ICC Arbitration Rules and was part of the team that implemented the new Rules within the Secretariat of the Court. He has solid experience in handling complex arbitrations ranging from infrastructure, oil and gas, and corporate disputes, including joint ventures, shareholder disputes, disputes arising from mergers and acquisitions, distribution agreements, the sale of goods, and franchises. His incorporation into the arbitration team contributes to the growth of Von Wobeser & Sierra, ranked as a "GAR 100" firm since the second edition of the survey and recently classified by Latin Lawyer magazine as "Arbitration Elite with a Corporate Offer". Victor currently acts as counsel and as arbitrator in domestic and international arbitration proceedings under the leading arbitration rules. Recently he has also been acting as an advisor to firms serving as counsel in ICC arbitrations. Prior to joining the ICC Court, Víctor spent two years as a foreign attorney in the arbitration and litigation departments of the firms Shearman & Sterling LLP (Paris, France) and Bingham McCutchen (Los Angeles, California). Before that, Víctor was a research assistant to Professor Jack J. Coe, Jr. at Pepperdine University School of Law, where he obtained his LL.M. (Master of Laws) with a specialization in International Arbitration. Víctor speaks Spanish, English, and French and is a member of the exclusive ICC Latin American Arbitration Group, the Spanish Arbitration Club, the Mexican Bar Association, and the National Association of Corporate Attorneys.
