Following up on our communication of May 20, 2020, please be informed that yesterday the Ministries of Economy, Health, Labor and Social Welfare, together with the Mexican Social Security Institute published, in the Official Federal Gazette, a ruling establishing the Specific Technical Guidelines for the Reopening of Economic Activities (hereafter Guidelines), which are intended to establish the specific measures that must be implemented in the framework of the general strategy for the New Normality.
The Guidelines published have basically the same content as those that the Health Ministry had announced (Technical Health Safety Guidelines in the Workplace), establishing that they are generally applicable to all workplaces, when they are authorized to resume work through the “Health Alert System”, which will begin to operate on June 1, 2020.
Nonetheless, a new obligation is established for all work places considered essential, which implies they will have to do a self-evaluation at the following link: www.nuevanormalidad.gob.mx, but no approval is required to begin their operations on June 1, 2020. However, this self-evaluation tool will also be available for the rest of the workplaces to use voluntarily.
Finally, the workplaces considered essential, who carried out their self-evaluation during the period between May 18 to 31 and have the approval of the IMSS, will not have to carry out the self-evaluation indicated in the above paragraph.
For more information and to see the mentioned Guidelines you may consult the main webpage of the Official Federal Gazette at the site: https://www.dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5594138&fecha=29/05/2020
We will continue to keep you informed on this matter.
