On January 10th, 2025, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published in the Official Federal Gazette (DOF) the updated daily, monthly and annual values of the Measurement and Updating Unit (UMA), with an increase of 4.21%. These new values will come into effect on February 1st. 2025.
The updated UMA values are as follows:
- Daily: $113.14 Mexican Pesos.
- Monthly: $3,439.46 Mexican Pesos.
- Annual: $41,273.52 Mexican Pesos.
The UMA is a reference value in Mexican Pesos used as a base, index, measure, or economic reference to calculate the amounts of obligations established in federal and state laws, as well as the legal provisions derived therefrom.
The purpose of this indicator is to separate the minimum wage from certain legal calculations, so that increases in the minimum wage do not directly affect payments related to fines, taxes, governmental procedures, limits on the contribution base salary, and other economic obligations established by law.
