This past May 4th, the Decree issuing the Transparency and Access to Public Information Act was published in the evening edition of the Official Federal Gazette, which according to its first transitory article entered into effect the day following its publication.

Reform in the Field to Combat Corruption

On April 22nd, 2015, the Chamber of Senators approved the constitutional reform in the area of fighting corruption. Now pending is the approval of the majority of the legislatures of the States which is required in order to pass a constitutional reform. Once this majority is attained it will be published in the Official Journal of the Federation.

On February 19th 2015 Retired Presiding Justice Ortiz Mayagoitia and Diego Sierra participated (as expert and rapporteur, respectively) in the London high-level meeting hosted by IBA President David W. Rivkin and both are eager to continue contributing to the IBA efforts to raise ethical standards in the legal profession. This meeting focused on developing ideas for the IBA Judicial Integrity Initiative, a new project aimed at combating judicial corruption. Other notable individuals that took part in the inaugural meeting are current and former chiefs of justice from several jurisdictions and representatives from, among others: the Organization for Economic Co-operation (OECD); the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
